I have the 212, and am thinking of getting the PF-50T to go with it. Thoughts?
If you don't need more than the PF-50T, it should be a great combo that sounds a lot like using the V4B.
You’ll be as happy as a pig in muck.
That pig is faking it. I can't put my finger on why, but I don't trust him. And I see no muck.
After the muck, he likes to take a swim and get cleaned off.
This is pretty much a small club band. I'd love to have two 212AV cabs and the V4b but at 62 I'd rather be hauling around one cab and the PF-50T. I was considering just the 20T until I noticed the fixed hz mid-range. I like having the choice of mid frequencies. I'm happy to hear that the 50T will sound like the V4b. Proaudiostar is having a sale on PF-50T's for $749. Hmmmm.....
OK... 212AV arrived today and the PF-50T will be here on Friday. I inquired about a used 50T on Ebay for $719 that Proaudiostar was selling and they said it was a customer return, BUT, if I wanted a NIB, factory sealed, full warranty, brand new one, they'll sell me one for $30 more. SOLD!
So, what's this i read about this amp and hum? @JimmyM
This may have been fixed in newer ones as Hodgy said he had one that didn't need it, but it's a pretty simple mod that cuts the noise down more. Honestly, it really didn't bother me much as I never heard it on gigs or when playing at home writing music, but I could see where someone would rather not have it if they don't have to. Was quite cheap to have a tech do it, but if you can do it yourself, it's pennies on the dollar.
OK, cool. Thanks Jimmy.
So sorry...forgot to include the link to the mod...bertr method is best.
Ampeg PF-50T Humbuster
Thanks... For now I just want to get to know this amp. Honestly, it's my first all tube amp. Really looking forward to it. But, thanks for the info and I'm sure I'll get it done in time.
