Anyone here play a double neck bass on a regular basis? I am thinking that it would really suit my playing style to have a fretted/fretless each with 5 strings. It would be great if this worked well enough that I didn't need anything else.

However I don't see many about and I am guessing that playability and weight are problematic.

    There is the basslab here:

This looks very usable (light) but also VERY expensive.

There is a nice Wal here:

Does anyone else know of any other such beasts? I have even considered making my own but it would be quite a task.

Yeah, thats the guy. That is one amazing machine but I can't imagine myself managing a single song with it let allone using it as my main bass.

I'm looking for something that will be Mr comfort. So I don't even hardly notice that there is another neck there at all and my back doesn't snap even a bit.

I'm sure this must be possible. The basslab looks like it would do the job but I just can't afford it and I'm not sure about the hollow body nature of it.

Eek! I'm frightened to even think about how much that thing must weigh...

(And I love JT's 14-string thingy! Wouldn't have a clue what to do with it myself, though...)
