Well, where can i start? I don't usually watch horror movies, sinc emy experiences in the past have taught me that 99% are complete crap. along comes Hostel, with "Quinton Tarantino Presents :". It had to be good, right?

Well, i went and watched it today and it absolutely sucked. out of 10 i would give it a 4 at best. It wasn't anywhere near as intense as i expected, and its one of those films where the trailer shoes all of the good footage.

Anyone else seen this movie? What did you think?

    I saw it twice.

The first time I went to see the gore (and the softcore porn) and I was fairly disappointed (with the gore). There wasn't nearly as much brutality as we were led to believe, but I thought what they did show was pretty when the guy gets his ankles slashed.

The second time I went I tried to find some sort of hidden meaning or something like that. Didn't happen.

Saw it, wasn't anything special. I too thought since Tarantino was involved that it would be decent, but it wasn't. Oh well.
  4. I freakin loved that move. Any movie that’s disgusting enough to actually make people leave the theatre is good by me. I thought it was hilarious how people would pay 7-10 dollars to see a movie that they thought was just another run-of-the-mill horror movie. But this was on another level with the gore. Sure the first 45 minutes was roundabouts a soft-core porn. And most of it was gore, but that demented son of a gun thought of some pretty inventive ways for people to die.

He wasn't. Tarantino is the new fad since he made kill bill and put himself back out there, and now he's taking money from just about anyone who wants to put his name on their movie. Eli roth was director/producer.

They did the same thing with Sin City.

Except Sin City was a great movie imo. The 10 minute section that he did direct in Sin City was pure Tarantino, including the dialogue.

Oh I wasn't bashing Sin City, I just hate how people are throwing Tarantino's name on everything they can.

Me and my friends saw that moive on opening night at the theater aroud here. We all had nothing but good for it, espicially the seen towards the end with the butter eye,....EEEWWW! that movie had some preety good gore in my opinion, and a good story line for it being based on actual events. But me and some of my friends went out and saw "The Hills Have Eyes". That movie was spectacular, gore that would make Romero cringe, and the sory was pretty great. It made me and my friends jump, Squirm, and had everyone, everyone clapping at a few scenes. Think of one of the charecters as Ash From the Evil Dead I:bassist:. But thats just me.

Nope, haven't seen it. I did try watching Van Helsing last night. What a corny movie.

I thought it wasn't too bad. Way over hyped, but what isn't it? I was hopping for more from the plot, but the ending was pretty good.

If you want gore and death check some Japanese movies like Ichi the Killer, Suicide Club, or Battle Royale. Those guys know how make a messed up movie.

p.s. I agree that Tarantino needs to keep his name off of stuff he doesn't make. Hero? Sin City? It's is like he is shooting for some kind of certification. "Tarantino approved"

I saw it a couple days after it came out. As far as a movie goes, it was terrible. The plot was kind of lacking, the acting wasn't great, maybe mediocre at most. As good old entertainment, it wasn't too shabby. The gore was pretty good for the most part, and I sure didn't mind the first 45 minutes... ;)
My girlfriend, on the other hand, was disgusted and tried to hide under her seat. Haha oh well, different strokes for different folks I guess.

That's not what he's going for at all. His part of the deal is he gets some money. Their part of the deal is they get to put a famous director's name on their movie. Although it may seem greedy, it's Hollywood, and we know what money can do for people living in tinsel town.

god awful movie. more nude chicks and drugs than a bad porno. no story line, barely any significant gore or shock factor. puts tarentino's name to shame.

i love quintin's other work. sin city, pulp fiction, kill bill I and II reservoir dogs, etc. EXCELLENT movies.

this one rly isn't even "his" per se. just a way to use his name to draw a crowd. he is an amazing talent, regardless of wut people say, in my opinion.

Yeah, its funny how Tarantino's name was used to market the movie. Like i said, i thought it would be good as a result. Oh well...
  18. erm...well i've never seen it but i have a few friends who have, they've told me about a few scenes, like the one where the eyes are getting popped out and all that good stuff. i wanted to see it but me and my girlfriend arent old enough to get into that movie by ourselves

speaking of tarantino, sin city is a kick @$$ movie
  19. Sin City isn't really a Tarantino movie...
