Yes, I forget who the manufacturer is. If I remember correctly they were used on some Jackson customs.

Those are kinda cool. I would even like to see some where the part you touch points straight back and nothing at all sticks out the sides .... in other words, not visible from the front.

Steinberger I believe offered guitar tuners like that one time. Also Kluson banjo style are available like used on some Gibson.

also: i think some version of this idea would also allow for much different headstock design(s)!

Thanks!!! Pretty slick.. I wonder if they’d accommodate some moderate bass strings (piccolo)

There was a similar design on a Mid range Yamaha Guitar a few years ago.

There was a matching bass but it had normal Y shaped tuners.
All I can remember is that they had almost hollow bodies and had LEDs around the control knobs.

Unless your hard case has heavy padding under the tuners, that arrangement would seem more subject to damage when you lay it flat in a case.

My Gibson has a tilt back head stock and is elevated in the case; nothing past the nut touches.

The headstock tilting back is one thing.
    Tuners pointing back is another,
