Yo yo yo! I just went to Guitar Center and tried out those Cheap Stingrays made by EB. (The Value line ones, under a different name. I tried the Stingray Copy today. I thought they were pretty nice! It was $250 brand new. The sound wasn't bad at all! These blow the Squiers and the Cheap Ibanezes away! The neck was VERY nice. Natural finish on the neck.. looks just like an EB Stingray. Has anyone else tried them? I thoght they were terrific! (BANG for the buck!) I didn't try the 5 string one. But the 4 string one was lovely for its $

  3. The 4 was amazing! The 5 was not (horrible B, and string spacing WAY too tight)

tallguy: I agree, I just went back and tried again.. and the 5's were horrible.. string spacing was TINY.. the B was pretty bad

but still for less than $300 its a BANG for the buck :) THe neck itself is VERY Nice and the construction of it is wonderful

  5. The B was that bad, huh? Dang, sometimes I regret swtiching to fivers. The good ones are all so fraking expensive! I guess I'll keep saving for a DP custom.

Hey bassman, there are alot of 5 string basses under $1000 that have a fantastic B string.

Spector NS-2000 Neck through & bolt on
    Ibanez BTB 405
    Dean Edge 5
    MTD Kingston
    Many more. :)

  7. My first bass was a Jay Turser Stingray Copy that lists at around $305.

I'm still very happy with it. Good punch.

And yes, they leave Squires and the cheap Soundgears choking in the dust you just made.

But now I'm all over my Ibanez SR 506 :D
