Does anyone use Rickenbacker or similar pickups in a non-Rickenbacker bass? What is it like and where did you get them. Thanks

Yes! I play a PRickenMan:) ! It is made from parts I had laying around. The body is a P-bass type(ash body/maple neck) and I custom cut the pickguard for a Rick 4001 pickup in the neck position and a MM humbucker in the bridge. I wired the pickups to their own on/off switch(no volume/tone/etc) and straight to the output. Solo the neck sounds just like Rick(bass, treble) and the bridge sounds like a MusicMan(clickey low mids):) ! Together, they cancel each others frequencies out and sound kind of honky...but you can't ask for everything from a parts bass! I got the Rick pickup from my old 4001(which I traded long ago-changed the stocks) and the MM pickup was from Almostmusic for like $25. Sweet!;)
