Hello, I just bought an Aphex Aural Exciter today because my sound is missing something..Like the lows are muddy . I plugged it in to and SWR redhead and it was amazing what it did for the sound. Anyone have any experience with one of these in a live setting? Thanks Tommy
I have one here in my little studio, I wanted a little bit more bottom from my bas into my monitor. It's doing the job, it's not great but ok. I never tried it on my rig though.
I used one for several years, the model with the Big Bottom. It sweetened up the top end, and gave a bit more beef to the bottom. However, you have to use it sparingly or you will sound too processed. Apparently the Aphex works by shifting certain frequencies out of phase without affecting others. When that happens, some strange things happen with balance across the fretboard range. Certain notes sang while others did not. That's the reason I stopped using it.
I tried one but went BBE 462 instead. Peavey hust realease something call a KOSOM or some other spelling of the word. Supposed to be a "Sub-Harmonic" enhancer. Might be intresting as a third option
