Anything special to look out for when buying an MIA Fender Jazz fretless '01?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Mesa Man, Nov 21, 2002.

  1. Well the headline says it all doesnt it? :D

I'm buying an MIA Fender Jazz ('01) used, actually hardly used.. But I'm not really confident what to look for in terms of "what might not be right?". So please help me out here. If it would be a "normal" bass I wouldnt have any problems, so I just need the advise about those things that differs from regular, fretted basses... except from the frets obviously.. ;)

    This got long..

    Thank you.

First, i'd check all the obvous things:
-Make sure all the knobs work correctly
-make sure their are no minor cracks in the neck

Then I'd check if the neck is twisted. Make sure the truss rod works.

Personally, if the bass is that new, I doubt that anything is really wrong but it dosen't hurt to check.

  3. Thanks for the advice about the minor cracks.. would never figured that one out. Never hurts to take a closer look, no matter how new it is IMHO. :)

    Anything else?

    Anyone?
