Years ago while taking lessons, I was learning to read from the F Simandl Book. If I resumed on my own, I would like to be able to check my work. Mostly concerned with time signatures. Checking the note played isn't as much of a concern. Again it's notes (time) value and time signatures. Is there a app or program where you enter on a staff what your playing (or learning) and it plays it for you to hear? I'm not particularly computer savvy, so the simpler the program the better.

Rhythm is certainly the harder part of notation.

finale notepad is free and lets you enter / playback notation.
I used it a few times in the past to 'check my work'
I can't recall if it handles unusual item signatures.

Even though I have done exactly that, I will say this: It's kind of a pain in the butt to check your work this way.
imagine how inefficient you'd be if you had to type English into speech to text software to check your post.
then imagine you could write rhythms as fluently as English.
    which scenario is preferable?

if you just buckle down and practice reading & writing rhythm
for example with something like this
you can get up to speed pretty well.
It takes work , it's slow going at first, but oh man is it worth it.

keep at it, and good luck!

You, and your screen name, are wonderful.
Many thanks. I'm going to look into it.
