hey all, so i've finally reigned in my iPod / iTunes, and tamed the beast that was my insurmountable CD collection. from my bedroom PC, i wanna be able to use the AirPort to send my music to the downstairs stereo, thus the AirPort idea. but is it easy to setup the AirPort w/ my mostly windows running wireless router? how do i setup the security access, so the AirPort can be a part of my secured wireless network? and wassup, w/ Airtunes? is it a standalone program, or something worked into iTunes? also, kinda silly, but can i use the ethernet jack on the AirPort and just run that into the router, then my stereo? and has anyone tried the remote controls that are offered for the AirPort / AirTunes? so, anyone wanna give me the low down? worth it?
The last time I was home I think my dad had something like 2 running. AirTunes does not exist. You plug a 1/8th inch cable out from the Airport express into your stereo Aux in jack. I don't see why you couldn't use the network, I pick up various networks at school and it seems to be cool. the express is really just an expensive range extender with some groovy options. I feel like that's all i can adequetly/knowledgably answer.
Check these out: AirTunes: http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/airtunes.html Airport - http://www.apple.com/support/airport/ FAQ - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108038 I have more experience with the older Airport Extreme models but I've helped several friends set up the same network you're trying to accomplish using the newer units. I'll try and help the best I can! -Brad
