I was just involved in a very heated thread over in basses. In which JT had to step in and escort someone to the door. The guy made some rude comments directed at John and others. It made me realize that being a moderator for this website isn't all fun and games. I appreciate all the time and effort that our mods put into makin' this site what it is. A great place to come and talk about bass and other stuff with our friends. So won't you join me in thanking our mods?

    Thanks

my pleasure. it all helps me compensate for my severe...underendowments, you know. :D

seriously, let me take this opportunity to thank the members who showed restraint in the face of rampant idiocy. in the future, just remember, that link down at the bottom of every post "report this post to a moderator". when someone posts something that you find offensive, please click it before you respond.

treat the trolls like you would a belligerent drunk pan handler on the street - don't make eye contact, don't acknowledge their presence and report them to the "authorities". ;)

Yeah, these mods are great, but just before this year ends, I wish to pay tribute to one mod in particular. You will easily guess his name.

He's an incredible mod, since he does his mod's job as others do, but he does it while not existing and just being a promotion tool invented by Conklin. Moderating in such conditions is not easy, eh.

    :D

    :D

a funny thing i'd like to add right here. a certain luthier who has participated in the past here at talkbass recently spammed a bunch of the forums with some information about his business. i closed his thread in basses, and pm'ed him suggesting that he put this information in his signature, since promotional info in a sig is not a problem, within reason, you know, trying to be helpful but still follow the rules. considering he also posted his promotional material in practically every other forum here, i thought i was pretty magnanimous in my reaction to it.

well, i got a surprisingly vitriolic and irate response about what a horrible individual i was, and all that jazz, capped off with a new nickname, i guess intended as an insult - john "conklin" turner  :D. i think i may change my user name to that from now on.

after all, you know how much i promote conklins in practically every post i make  :D. just thought i'd share that one with you guys. gotta keep a sense of humor with this job.

    happy holidays.

    John,

Except the fact that you are a very horrible Conklin :D , I guess I take no real risk saying that most TB'ers do appreciate your friendship and humor.

    Happy holidays.
