It seems like all of the Fender re-issues I have come across are mexican made, I was looking for a 70's tobacco reissue and all I am finding is Mexicans.

There are several Japanese reissues (57p, 70p, 62j, 75j to name a few ) and American vintage reissue basses including custom shop models.

  3. I have an Fender American Vintage reissue 62 P-Bass and 62 Jazz and I highly recommend theses basses...you can get good deals on them used.

Every once in a while a sunburst US 75 reissue shows up, but they discontinued that finish about 10 years ago.
MIJ/CIJ also made one in sunburst, but they're rare to find too.

No, they are not just MIM. Just as an example, the American Vintage Reissue series are all MIA.
