Are BBE's harder on your speakers?

  1. I own a BBE sonic maximizer and i used to use it with my SABDDI and DCM100 through my goliath jr cab. However I find when I use the BBE my set-up is alot more sensitive to clipping and I have to play at lower volumes than I would without the bbe.

So in the end I took out my BBE and no longer use it, I can now turn my volume up a little higher and it even seems to be louder (but it could just be cuttin through more now without the bbe? who knows?) But it is difficult to make my amp clip without it (used to be quite easy -not that I am trying to make it clip either, just checking my limits)

But what I am wondering do you think they put a little more strain on your speakers?? and in the end shorten speaker life?

    thanx
