I'm sure you've heard the addage 'You pay for what you get.' This especially applies to new gear- a 4x10 for under 300 dollars will probably be cheap in more ways than one. Now, not having played the particulary Hartke in question, I could be totally off, but definately don't drop ANY cash without playing it first-- having said that, a little more cash could get you an Avatar cabinet which you have no doubt read about plenty here on TB. Again, not having played the Hartke I cannot truely say, but a 4x10 cabinet for 270 dollars is 270 dollars for a reason.

i think this cab sounded better than the xl cabs...it just has a warmer sound...

but your saying works with avatar also....if thats the case....aren't they around the same price?

and a bigger company can make a cab for cheaper than a smaller company.... the more they buy in bulk the bigger the discount...so keep that in mind...money isn't everything

I've got a Hartke 4.5 XL. I can't say any thing bad about these, but, I'm planning on a 15"er to supply the thunder with the roar. One thing, Hartkes aren't cheap, but, you can find deals on used ones.

Amen to that, Ibanks. I scored a 410 XL for only $200. its the older version, that only handles 240 watts. I'd rather overpower it than underpower it, mine sounds real good. i was never partial to hartke... i ran it with my old amp, a solid state 100 watt. it sounded good, but i knew i could make it sound alot better. i added a SVT-III Pro, and bam, that made it amazing. i over power it about 60 watts, and this thing is awesome. I ratlle everything with my bass on about 1 oclock, but my graphic (40 hz i believe) is all the way up. this is a great sound... the punch and warmness of the ampeg mixed with the punch of the hartke... its just beautiful. the exact sound i'm looking for. maybe the next step will be to add on a 15"...
