Are Lagwagon lying to me?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by tresdirnt, Jul 8, 2001.

  1. On the inlay of a Lagwagon CD it says they use a 16 string bass. WHAT? Are they toying with me, or is there such a monster. Stick to a 4 myself.

It could be a 4 string with 3 strings behind each string.

Or an 8 string with another string behind each string.

Probably an ironic comment towards all those modern multistring players.
    Or it's a typo and should've read '6-string bass'

If I remember correctly, Allen Woody had an 18-string...or some such monster. I'll have to look into my old Bass Player's and find it.

But 16 is unlikely, only possibility would be 4x4, not effective.

  6. so, how´d you do in math?

he'd do fine. he meant 4 strings, and 3 strings behind each of the four.

    4x(1+3)=16

  8. Tres,
Read the rest of the liner notes on that album.. the part that says what all the guys play is a complete, tongue-in-cheek joke. For Jesse, it says "4, 8, 12 and 16-string basses." And for the rest of the guys, it says stuff like "guitar, glockenspiel and lute." I thought it was serious at first, too. All the album art and everything is just them messin' with you.
