The only pedal you need for bass is a gas pedal in your car to get you to gigs.

Haha, nice. But seriously, I'm not looking forward to buying one, just I want to know. My idol Troy Sanders, he uses effect pedals and I was wondering if there was a difference in pedals for guitar or basses.

Really, just take a peek in the effects forum. You might not come out. Also, off of the top of my head, Troy uses a Sonny and Bluebeard, among other things.

It is true that some guitar pedals will take away lower frequencies. It is usually dirt pedals that do this (overdrive, distortion and fuzz). Most modulation pedals are not guitar or bass specific (delay, octave, chorus etc.). To check wether a pedal can be used for bass just search the forums here to see wether people use them or not. For dirt pedals you can check Bassfuzz.com which has reviews on a lot of fuzz and some overdrive/distortion boxes.
