i play a lot of punky energetic music, and my right arm just don't want to relax, so it gets tired REALY quick cause i got skinny arms. i try but it will not do it. it is the tencest when i play with a pick (i do a lot), still pretty tense with the fingers, but not so much with slap for some reason, and i like to go as fast as i can go with that. i need to know how to do 2 things 1. relax my hands to they don't tire out 2. build up the stamina
What position are you holding the bass? How low/high is it? Do you get the same tiredness when you sit down and practice? If you don't, then your stage bass position needs to be closer to your sitting position. Something to try....
i mainly play sitting, un-amped, because i am curintly not in a band and lost my strap. when i play standing, i put it about in the middle, because i don't like the look of it super high, and i have some difficulty when it is all the way down. and yes, i have the problem when sitting too.
Hey Jordan, sorry to change the subject, but I think you'll get a kick out of this. My band recorded it off-the-cuff/improv just for fun and your signature reminded me of it... http://www.davemuscato.com/treasurejunkie/recordings/Mongorians.mp3
Stretching helps, as well as releasing any death grips you may have. Also, go to www.carolkaye.com and learn her picking style. You can look under her player's points and check out her vids to learn how to do it properly. Totally saved my right hand from crippling pain when using a pick.
