Arpeggios - question for Ed Fuqua

Ed I've been doing the arpeggio exercises you advised (on BG - unfortunately don't play DB) - 6, min6, diminished, M7 etc in sequence, playing all the chords in 1st inversion, then 2nd then 3rd then each individual chord in 1st 2nd and 3rd inversion. Concentrating on a couple of "keys" so far 'til the fingering becomes second nature but I'm getting comfortable with this and expect to start varying keys soon. All at a steady 60 bpm on the metronome.

    Couple of questions:

1 Should I always play at this tempo or should I vary the tempi? Slow may be best for an ear training excercise but is it also for developing technique?

2 Is it important to learn to sing the arpeggios to get full benefit?

3 Anything else I should be doing to get full benefit of these exercises?

    Thanks for your (anticipated) response.
