Anyone have a pic? thinking it might be a fun easy mod. Not sure where I'd find the parts. Probably a custom pickguard. Standard Fender Ashtray may or not fit over the larger bridge. I can't be the only one who's ever had the idea though.
Thought about doing a pick guard going as far as a template [long gone] but never followed thru. Didn't want to add screw holes if it didn't work out. I'd like to see it if you decide to make it happen.
Found this image on Google: Was thinking something more like a Tele Custom or Thinline guard though although this has its merits.
Yeah not likely now that I actually look. Still a pick guard would be fun. I am pretty sure I will never sell my ASAT so the screw holes don't bother me.
If the pick guard is completely flat you might just need a light tack spray adhesive that could be removed easily.
Asatman, did you ever find your pick guard for your Asat? I found, the company that made the pickguard, for the blue Asat, you found on Google. If you haven't got your pick guard yet,I can give you the info. I just placed an order for my Asat. I decided not to drill holes, and just apply it to the guitar, with adhesive tape. That is how I placed my order. Should be here,by the 7th of October 2013. Thanks
Asatman,I am trying to post pictures, with the template,on there prior to ordering my pickguard. The company sent this template,to check for fit. Thanks
Ok,got your reply,Thanks. Not able to post the pics, for some reason. I could send to your email address,if you like. The company if interested is, Terrapin Island Guitars, located in,Eugene,Oregon. Their number is,541-461-0877, and the person you would be talking is Justin Ostendorf. He said due to the request he has had for the Asat pick guard, he storing the info, for future request. Tell them Wendell Davis, informed you if you don't mind. Thanks!
Here's an interesting "what if" version of the ASAT http://www.gbase.com/gear/g-and-l-prototype-asat-bass-1-of-1985-natural
I like both those versions. What about a Tele Custom version? What would you put on this (Style/color):
