i own a abm300 with 2 X 10 cab - now these amps don't come with a compressor built in but they do have a s.s/valve preamp knob.....if i moved the knob full round to valve would i get a form of valve compression to help smooth out the high and lows of my playing? though currently i just run through a boss stomp pedal compressor before the amp...so i would just like to hear some opinions

    Try it and see ;)

Your amp, your playing, your ears. If you've also got a stomp box compressor then you've got everything you need to experiment.
