Ashdown Abm side handle issue

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Anarchyok, Jul 29, 2009.

  1. Has anyone else had issues with the handles on the abm 500 (mines evo III) ripping where the handle loops through the metal ring?

Mines torn after only 10 months of light use - rig is beautifully looked after not a mark on it elsewhere. Do these handles seem lightweight and in need of reinforcing?

Local distributor reckons a 3 month wait minimum for a replacement - and I'm having to be super careful carrying the head as it is only a matter of time before handle gives way.

Any ideas about getting sorted sooner or anyone had a similar issue?

thats a shame! ive been using the same head extensively on the road for the last year and my handle is in perfect working order... rest of the head is scuffed a lot though!

In all the Ashdown amps I've seen, the only shoddy feeling bit was the light plastic rotary knobs.

In their cabs, their handles seem ridiculously rugged, my cab included.

I think yours might be a fluke... but then again, I could be wrong, and nick could just be ridiculously lucky. :)

The way the side handle stuck out used to bug me as it made getting it in the trunk of my small Toyota difficult. So I replaced it with a flat folding handle that I got from the UK electrical supplier Maplins. Don't know if you have an equivalent outlet in Oz.
