Ashdown ABM500 Active/Passive

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by chinjazz, Feb 14, 2003.

  1. Hey All,

I've got an Ashdown ABM500 head. It's got separate passive and active inputs. It's a no brainer to where to plug a passive or active instrument, but I just recently bought a Marcus Fender Jazz with an Active/Passive switch, and like the effect of switching for tonal differences during play. The big question is, which input on the head can I safely plug into without blowing up anything?

I was wondering about this and need some experienced "input".

    Thanks dudes!

I believe I noticed a slight difference in highs when I plugged my passive Fender into the Active input. Cant remember which. But one had slightly more highs. Could be my imagination. But try for yourself.
  3. SMASH,

Thanks for the reply. This bass isn't that hot on the output. It sounds like you've got an Ashdown as well. I really like it's smooth, and fat tones.
I've got it currently plugged into an Aguilar 1x12.
And will add another sometime soon.
