First off... Whats with the ashdowns? I know Shavo from SOAD uses ashdown religiously, and he has awsome tone. Very like "Grr... im in a metal band. *growl*"

Are the ashdowns tube? or solidstate?

And how do they work the the Avatars?

Should give you a glimpse of Ashdown.

EB series is solid state combos (although they now do a head) - I have an EB130 combo with a 15" speaker, my main practise amp.

MAG series are solid state as well, but more powerful.

ABM are hybrid, having a tube pre-amp and solid staate power amp. Slightly more powerful than the MAG series. I have an ABM driving Mini48 and Mini15 cabs. To me it's fabulous! It replaced my previous Trace Elliot stack when my back packed in!

I have the Ashdown Labs MK500, and it is simply awesome. It's all solid-state, all analog, no integrated circuits. Totally responsive and clean, without being sterile. The EQ is VERY powerful. I haven't played the ABM series, but in all honesty I'd trust the guys that engineered Trace...
