Ashdown MAG-410T (diffrent reviews, pretty lost)

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Diddii, Jul 8, 2007.

  1. Well, next month i'm getting my Ampeg SVT-CL head, and also buying MAG-410T deep cabinet.

I've been reading some reviews and some say it isn't to loud? I'm going for two 410T. would that solve the problem? (altough SVT-CL is has a valve power amp section).
Also that he dosen't handle low-end well, gets distorted? when i played this cab yesterday i didn't feel anything... maybe becouse i wasn't playing it loud.

Please, i need all information about this cabinet. Some reviews and experience.

(Sorry for my bad english, im just a kid from iceland :D)

I don't recall the cabinet ever distorting. I did couple it with a MAG 115 however. The cabinet definitely has a lot of mids. If you're considering two MAG 410s, why not just get a MAG 810?

  4. well first of all it's 52kg, and my car (Hyundai Getz) pretty small car. For that heavy cabinet while after gigs walking it up the stairs (20 stairs to our practice apartment) :meh: It could work if i had some help carrying it :D

  5. I have an MK500 with 2 410T cabs. Im not really that happy with them. They get a little distorted and dont handle the lows well.
Look for something else. Why not get Ampeg cabs?

  6. well, Alex im running low on money and need a cab next month

Ashdown's MAG arent known for boomy lows but rather grinding mids...so that may be your fault for not knowing their limitations. Ive never heard a bad MAG that was eq'd right (certain range), and kept within their wattage limits.

I say go for the MAGs if they fit your bill and fit the amp correctly (ohmage, wattage). Try them out first if you can...if not, then make sure of a return policy if they arent for you....

  8. kk, but im thinking about waiting 1-2weeks and buy Ampeg SVT-810E if its not more than 90.000kr (1$ = 64isk, 90.000 = 1406,25$) . My band just has to wait 1-2 weeks ( no gigs :meh: )

btw: everything here in iceland is so over-priced :( and if i buy SVt-810e on music123.com then it would cost more :meh:

If the MAG 810 does not fit your car and is too heavy, I guess the SVT810E won't fit your car either and will be even much heavier.

    Hi

I had a mag 410T deep. It was a decent cab but was not the sound I was looking for. They are more middie then a good low end growl cab. You don't mention what kind of sound you're trying to achieve. If you're looking for a bright cut through the mix sound, they should be fine. Not so much so if you're looking for a deep thumpy p bass with flats sound. As I was looking for more of the latter I sold it and got an Avatar SB 112 neo and got the sound I was looking for. I also found the Ashdown to be a bit dry sounding to me. Remember that your cab choice will significantly affect your sound
