    I have a MAG 300H and a Goliath III 4x10........

I played today for awhile trying out different tones and what-not, when I noticed that even with the input level at 3-o'clock and the bass knob at 3-o'clock, the meter needle barely would hit the red area. And that was only if I hit the strings real hard.

I may just be gun-shy, cuz the amp I used before the MAG would clip even at low volumes.

Is this normal, or is the calibrating on the needle off?

Normal... I keep my input dimed and with different basses I get different readings, (as you'd expect)... The meter also seems to measure the preamp signal to the power amp... Different EQ settings on the amp affect the meter also... Don't be shy, it's a great amp!!

okay....that's what I was wondering. I was getting some serious volume out of it and the VU meter was peaking at the halfway point, and usually stayed below the "10" mark. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't overdoing it.

    Thanks for the info

This amp is very hard to distort/clip.
