Out of curiosity, I looked up my amp on SW to see if it was still being sold and I was floored by the increase in price by 66% over four years. Does anyone else think this is an exorbitant increase? I mean, it’s a beautiful and unique amp and I’ll not likely ever part with it but, I would be hard pressed to pay what they’re asking for it now.
I mean, they are a UK-based company, as far as I know. Prices have gone up in Canada, too, but not nearly as much. I feel like your foreign policy in recent years has not helped the price you have to pay on imported goods
I recently bought a new Triumph (UK based) motorcycle and actually, the prices on their bikes are really competitive. Granted, the amp was made in the UK and the bike was assembled in Thailand BUT, with machined parts from the UK. I am wondering if Ashdown is pricing it into a bracket that impresses the consumers to define it as being more desirable. If this is the goal, it MIGHT work. edit: At the time I was shopping for a 100 watt tube amp there were three I was considering between Ashdown, Ampeg and Fender Bassman. They were all roughly within $100 of each other with Ashdown falling in the middle. Now, the Ashdown is at $1999, the Ampeg is at $1499, and the Fender is at $1159.
Not just Ashdown,im pretty regular at watching those sites and noticed most every brand has taken a pretty good jump.Especially over the last 12-18 months.
