Ashdown quality

    I haven't heard a whole lot about ashdown but i've heard people say they have good fat old school tone. Anybody wanna expand on this? are they good quality? what other amps to they sound at least similar? And more specifically, are the amps really good and the cabs not or vice versa, or are their cabs and amps both good? Any information would be awesome

    Can't give you much info on Ashdowns but here goes - played on an Ashdown once about 10 months ago. It was a backlined gg so it was the club's amp. I don't know what model head it was but it was completely chrome with big black knobs and two VU meters on it. I must say it kicked some serious butt. I only had a few minutes to tweak the knobs for a decent tone and it sounded great. I use an Ampeg SVT Classic that I love,but given the chance I would love to experiment with that Ashdown again. Not sure about their cabinents - I was playing through an Eden cab at that gig.

    Correction - it only has 1 VU meter and I belevie it is this model - ABM 500RC EVO - not sure - like I said, I don't know much about Ashdown amps, but this one rocked.
