Ashdown worth getting

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by bassampegman, Oct 28, 2005.

  1. I am returning to the bass gigging scene after a 6 month break. Sold all my Ampeg gear etc but i need a low cost rig that sounds good.

    How about Mag300 H head with Mag115 and Mag410 cabs ??

    Or should i get the Mag600r head 575w ??

I would suggest OLD Hartke over new Hatrke

I think there is an old Hartke 5000 on tb for sale still (great amp)

But New Hartke pales in coparison to Ashdown I feel
  4. Why would you say that the Harke is better choice over the Ashdown, i am borrowing a 200W Hartke head about 7 years old and its not bad, fairly loud i would say, tone not bad.

The Ashdown have more tone maybe ??

I just got a MAG 300H and it is very nice. Nice tone and very loud for its power rating.

Beats the hell out of Hartke. I used to work at Sam Ash, I played alot of them, sold some, and saw a bunch get returned for repairs.

Hi-fi into an old tube amp
Ashdown has a super warm vintage type sound and can put out some punchiness too.

I used a MAG 300 to power either 2x1x15 or 1x15/2x10 rigs, and it worked great, especially considering the wattage. I am wondering if the 4x10 in there might cause it to run a little hard.

    Ashdown > Hartke. Simple.

If you're wanting something similar to your old ampeg, the Ashdown is what you want. The 300 VS 600 is up to you and how much power you need.
