I have never ever played a bass this perfect for me and I've played a lot. I think it will be a long time til I lust after a five string. It sounds and feels incredible - seriously, I couldn't sleep last night I'm so excited. I'm typing quickly so I can get back to the bass.

    I got it from:

There are some other sweeties there in case anyone's interested. The blue and yellow one is gorgeous up close, as is the spalted maple-topped one (it has this incredible flame that you can't see on the web photos). There are a ton of incredible basses at the store but the Ritter did me in. :hyper:

For real, the picture doesn't do this Ritter Classic justice.

    Isn't she lovely?

I've been to that shop. Juan has some great stuff down there in Rancho.

EDIT: Oh yeah, awesome bass. Has he had that one long? I don't remember seeing that one when I was down there.

    Looks really nice !!!
One of the things I´ve always liked about Ritters is the quality (and figures) of their top woods.

Can you post some clips and a review of your bass ?

    Congrats.

    Thanks guys!

I'll write a full review after I've played it with some bands, later this week.

    Pretty bass!

    Question: what is its weight?

  10. I frakkin' love Ritter's basses. I live in Kingston, Ontario, and unfortunately there aren't any shops here that carry high-end instruments. So, I've never had the fortune to play one

Tell me all there is to know about it... :bassist:

I'm wondering what the neck feels like?
I am a big fan of his design and construction and amazing finishes, but how would you describe the playability factor???
How is the neck radius and thickness, maybe relative to other basses?

    Thanks folks!

    I'd guess 8 1/2 pounds but I don't have a scale.

The neck is finished and smooth. I tend to like non-glossy necks, but it's fine for this bass. The neck is a shallow C profile (I think 1 7/8" nut). Moving up and down the neck is very easy. I'm not used to wide and shallow, but I know many prefer that. No comparison is coming to me; maybe another Ritter owner can chime in. Action is great; although currently the B string is not the tightest I've ever played (my FBB and former F are a hair tighter). I think that is more related to the strings though. Not a problem. The fretboard feels pretty flat to me. Fretwork is truly flawless. Balance is excellent - it's nice that the Classic shape offers two rear strap pins for people with different playing styles.

Last night, I noticed that the locations of controls on the Bass Player review are inaccurate, at least compared to mine.

I should add that to me, the pickups don't get in the way at all. It sounds great slapped, but I'm not much of a slapper. There is plenty of room to do it. I'm loving this bass! :D

I saw that bass there a few weeks ago, did he make you commit to buying it before he let you even touch it?

No, he let me play it, as well as a bunch of other instruments (Benevente, Elrick, Smith, R, Nordstrand). Every bass was well set-up, which I appreciated. I probably played basses for an hour and a half. I traded my F bass and added some cash. We talked before I made the trip up. It was actually a super easy transaction. We also chatted about amps and speakers even though I told him I wasn't shopping for that. If you're looking to buy a high-end bass, I'd definitely recommend contacting Juan.
