If any body ask me "why don't you buy the original one ??" the only answer is "i don't have enough money" so i planning build one too minimalize spent my money.. Thanks Before..
You might start with something like this http://www.adverts.ie/electric-bass...ject-musicman-style-new-make-your-own/1617199
Yeah, seriously. Buy a cheap, cheap, CHEAP Stingray copy, and do lots and lots and LOTS of reading online of how to route it for the 2nd humbucker, how to wire it properly, how to give it a nice paintjob and so forth.
I dont build my self.. i ask luthier to build it in jakarta indonesia.. thank you for your information about build musicman HH 5 string, i need all the information about the sparepart and the pickup i should buy, and if you have the information about where to buy the original spareparts by musicman please tell me.. many thanks for your information..
Unless you have a luthier that builds cheap its going to be less expensive to just buy a Stingray. For it to sound exactly like a EBMM Ray you would have to buy the pickup and preamp used, because nothing aftermarket will sound exactly the same. Those do come up for sale every once in a while, but they aren't cheap, and getting them shipped to you in Indonesia would be a challenge to say the least.
Musicman does not sell any of their parts: not the pickups, not the preamp, not the bridge. I guarantee you will spend more money trying to build a copy of an HH 5 string, than if you just go buy one. Best thing is to buy a 2nd hand one.
As Hopkins mentioned, it would probably more expensive than buying the actual stingray. I found this link http://www.ernieball.co.uk/c/music-man-spares You could have a look and do the math yourself on how much it is going to cost you to construct a stingray yourself. Bare in mind, you still need the body, the neck, and a knowledgeable person to setup everything. Just in case you don't know, different pickup position could definitely affect the sound. So if the body is made by the local luthier, you still need to make sure that you get all the measurements correct. As Hopkins also mentioned, you need to put the shipping cost factor in your calculation as well. By buying a stingray, at least you are getting a genuine instrument with 100% guaranteed genuine spare parts, it has been put together for you, sounds and feels exactly as a stringray and you have got their warranty as well. I hope it is enough food for thoughts for you to think about it. Harry
You know, I run into this kind of thinking a lot. Local musicians are always interested in a custom build, they ask me how much it would cost to build a P bass, Jazz, Strat, Tele ect. I always tell them the working musicians price, which doesn't leave a lot of profit on my end. And the response is always the same, "Well I can buy a USA Fender for that." I have sold a total of 0 instruments so far. Why do people have this Idea that they can get something hand built, cheaper than they can buy one?
