I'm redoing my music room, and being a do it yourselfer, I need to make a couple of short extension cords for lighting/table lamps. Can I safely use Canare 4S11 speaker cable ( 4 x 14 AWG conductors) that I have instead of making a trip to the hardware store and buying "zip" cable? Canares website says it can be used for DC power lines. I'm just wondering about AC application. Many Thanks Guys. P.S. Canares site also says that its GS6 Instrument cable, which is braided/shielding single conductor, can be used for " Amp to Cabinet leads ". I'm thinking they're wrong about that. I always heard that would burn something up. Thanks Again
For the sake of safety you want to use cable Designed and Rated to carry 120 AC. Make the trip to the hardware store.
