Attn Sterling/Stingray 5 Owners

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Hungry Soul, Aug 2, 2002.

  1. My newest bass is a Sterling and I was just curious as to what pickup coil setting everyone uses and why. To my understanding the bridge setting (parallel) is how a normal Stingray's pickup sounds. What uses have you found for the different settings or do you just favor one? Thanks :)

well.. I don't own one anymore.. but I did own a stingray up until 3 weeks ago.. and I pretty much always left it in parallel...
  3. Me too:)
  4. I mostly use the parallell setting too... I just like it best there. Sometime I use the middle spot (single coil) w/the mid bumped up a bit... it gives me a pretty good P-bassy type sound (enough to fool most non-bass players at any rate). I only use the series setting when I'm playing something melodic and "chordy"... but I don't do that often.

Mine mostly stays in the parallel position, too. It is nice to have the option, though.
