audio/linear taper question..

    i have an "Allparts" 250K volume control, ok on the control(pot) its stamped B250 ,doesnt "B" stand for linear taper? would this still be ok to use for a volume (audio) control...
    any info would be great,thanx. :bassist:

    I don't remember what the stamps mean, but no, I wouldn't use a linear taper for a volume pot. To perceive a linear change in volume requires the use of audio taper pots. On the other hand, the tone control uses a linear taper pot.

    but on the control (pot) its stamped B250...

    It says 'audio taper' so it's a log.
