    Hey everybody

I've been playing for 2 1/2 years, and want to find some real life experiance. Playing in little bands is great, but in my age group (15) it's hard to get really dedicated player, you know?

So I was looking at the summer jazz program at the Philly university of the arts ( and saw these requirements for the audition tape

    Audition Requirement
To best place students in the proper ensemble group as well as big band placement, each registrant is required to submit a VHS tape that contains all of the requirements for the scholarship review. They are as follows:
An audition videotape of the applicant (only) to include the following:
    - An introduction stating your name, instrument, and what is to follow
    - Two major scales
    - Two minor scales
    - A performance of two pieces - approximately two minutes long each (one preferably a jazz standard).

So I was wondering, what would you recomend I do for my songs? Is there anything special they want to see on those scales? I'm pretty confident scalewise, but I don't know what would be the 'best' choice for my Jazz standard, or what they might like to see on the other song.

    Thanks :)
