... they were all good! Very good, in fact. I've never had that happen before. They each showed up on time and prepared. We're going to bring two of them back next week together to see how they relate - both said they were amenable to working with another singer. This is for my previous band now reforming. So the adventure begins. Neither of the two we're bringing back seem to be psycho. We'll see how things go. This means that if the country western band I joined a couple months ago finally decide they're going to exist they'll be looking for another bass player.
Man, its great to play w/good people- especially if you realize it at the time, as opposed to much later
So you've auditioned three singers...for two positions? What kind of band are we talking about here? Some soul/R&B/pop kind of thing? Whenever I think of backing vocalists, I think of a big band - with like two guitarists and/or two keyboard players, a drummer, percussionist, bassist (naturally), a horn section, and a lead singer. MM
I love having multiple good female singers who work with each other well. What genre is this and what songs do you have that could take advantage of them? My favorite song ever to do with two female singers eeeeever was "Colgando en tus manos", originally a male/female duet but sounds awesome with two girls. Wish I could do that one again...
We're reworking our repertoire. We were a pretty standard classic rock band before, but we're going to be adding more rockin' blues and R&B/Motown. They'll switch leads and backups. There's a lot of work to do.
It's not even 5am and I have not had my coffee yet... and for a second I thought the title of the post said 'auditioned three female strippers'... and I was like, 'wha? I don't know what kind of band this is, but I have to get in on that gig...'
How did you come up with three? I placed a Craigslist add a week ago and got one reply. I stated we had already paying gigs lined up for the next few months, the kind of music we play and how often we normally gig and rehearse. We were hoping to start the new female singer in mid August, and I'm getting nervous. Any feedback would be appreciated. If I'm derailing your thread, I'll start my own.
That's pretty rare... two female singers who are not psycho AND amenable to working with each other? I hope it works out, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Like my wife always says, "deep down, most women really hate most other women." And boy have I seen that to be true. And of course since no one has asked yet... are they hot?
Does this mean that the third seemed a bit psycho? What was it about the third that took her out of the running? Color me curious.
gave up on the whole chick singer thing, not that some I've worked with werent great and all because they have, and some were even just like one of the guys, but its just been easier not to deal with them. Its not that Im trying to come off as misogynistic or anything, cause I really dig women in general, heck, I even married one, but its just been less dramatic and easy going with the guys.
