For those of you who aren't on the Bass Emporium mailing list and in the Austin area, just thought you might be interested to know about the upcoming Michael Manring clinic.

    Here's the announcement:

We will have Michael Manring in our store on
Monday, May 5th from 7:00pm-8:30pm to perform a solo bass clinic and
conduct a Q&A session. If you are a Michael Manring fan and would like
more information about him, check out "http://www.manthing.com" for a
great treasure trove of information. If you've never heard Michael
play - you must! He is an amazing player. If you are coming from out
    of town check the website
under the ‘Contact’ section for a downloadable PDF map. We have
limited space for this clinic so you will want to get to the store
early. We want to thank our generous sponsor Zon Guitars for helping
    us make this possible.

You don't need to be a Manring fan to be completely blown away at his clinic.

I had the good fortune of seeing him two nights in a row last year when he was in the Chicago area.

My suggestion is that if the people with slapping questions hijack the clinic steer Michael back to demos of the Hyperbass. Nothing against slap but Michael does things on his Hyperbass that no one else even dreamed of...

Plus he's one of the nicest guys that you'd ever meet.
  3. I'll be there for sure!

    Ooooooo, aahhhhhh.

    It's kind of like that...

Ever been to a Wooten show and just stand there with your chin on the floor? Well seeing Michael go through Hyperbass gymnastics is possibly even more impressive... Heck, he changes tunings with his tuner and bridge levers almost as often (sometimes more so) as he fingers a different note...it really has to be seen to be believed.
