So I am due for a cab purchase in the next few weeks, and while I'd love one of those new DNA-410s or better yet, a berg nv610, my tone preference and budget have me looking at an avatar 410neo (most likely used).

However I am starting to play synth more and was thinking I may want something with a little more even frequency response like the tb153 in case I use my bass rig as a keyboard rig as well.

I usually run 410s with the tweeter off. I don't care about the tweeter in the tb153. I just think a 15+6 would be a little smoother for analog monosynth than a 410.

    what do you guys think?

edit: I have used an avatar 410neo many times, on gigs, this is why its a go-to cab for me. I have not yet heard a tb153.
  2. I think your thoughts are in the right place. The TB153 will offer a more balanced sound which will benefit your synth. That's the cab I would go for.

What on earth would make you think an NV610 would be the ideal cabinet for Synth bass?

Yeah, I'm not sure why I added that in there. The Nv610 was sort of my ideal cab for bass guitar, not synth bass.

im not all that familiar with the freq range of synth, but the 15/6 idea started out as a Carvin PA cab (LS1503 I think) which was full range and probably more suited to what your asking. in other words, I think the 15/6 would be more appropriate than the 4x10

It's the other way around. Rather than having to build my first fEARful design which didn't even have a name back then, I bought a LS1503 when my Carvin catalog showed up, thinking it might be close enough to satisfy.

    But it wasn't.
