Avatar b212- delta or neo?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by spectorrebop, Dec 26, 2005.

  1. Im in the stage of upgrading my equipment from having a half to a full stack and would like to try out my swr workingman 4x10 and spector rebop with the avatar 2x12. As a head im looking at the Qsc rmx850 or the Behr****r ep1500. The SWR 4x10 is 400watts. I would love to test out the different 212's but its difficult since they are factory direct. The delta is aproximately 40 dollars cheaper and has 1,000 watts (which is more than needed i think) but is ten pounds heavier. The neo is 600 watts and supposedly supports the mids better while being ten pounds lighter. The price difference isnt much so I am willing to spend a bit more if the neo is better. I figure I have a while before I start getting back problems, besides, either way its lighter than the swr. Ohh, and my band plays mostly jazz and rock, i heard we sound like grateful dead like 2 times so ill go with that. We gig 2-4 times a month.
Lastly, ( i am as dumb as people come about things) if the spector has the active pre in it would i still need to go out and purchase a pre amp. I realize if i were to play any passive bass i deffinately would.
Thanks a lot, any help appreciated.

So why on God's green earth are you considering the Behringer as well as the QSC for the power amp? Egads.

Me, I'd go for the weight savings . . . if you gig out frequently, you'll notice.

  3. haha, sorry about that. When I said i was willing to spend a bit more for the neo if its better, i meant really not much more, like 50 dollars worth. However, i am still open to power amp ideas but for the time being, i think those are my least expensive options. (i dont make much money)

Delta 212 have more low end than the NEO and if you are usen the 212 for more low end, you should consider the Delta than the NEO. And, always is better to have that extar watts on the speakers, just for the peaks. :bassist:

Check out these links. There are probably others that can be found using the search function.

Someone has suggested that the neo's at Avatar are custom made at Eminence and not the standard ones that I have commented on before. I would recommend that you contact Dave at Avatar and check this out. He is a very good guy to talk to.
