Avatar Cabinets - UK Equivalent?

    I have heard a lot of good things about Avatar cabinets - that they are well constructed and very reasonably priced considering the quality.
    Unfortunately, they only seem to be available in the US.
    I was wondering whether anyone might know of a similiar type of company operating in the UK, offering good speaker cabs at good prices?

    I dunno Dave personally...but you could ask him if he could ship to the UK... *shrug* it's worth a shot! :)

    Unfortunatley we don't really have anything comparable to avatar/acme/aguilar in the uk, and from what i recall they don't ship, and if they did it would be extremely pricey, and aftersales could be a bit of a nightmare!

    It sucks we don't get these cabinets!

    Oh well, perhaps some enterprising young bassist will read this thread and spot the gap in the market!

    In a bored moment I did have a look to see how much it would cost to ship to the UK. With the UPS info that Avatar have on their site I was able to get a quote of just over 200 quid before you've worked out what customs will charge on the way in. Rather defeats the object of getting a cheap cab in the first place.
    In the UK it seems that if it doesn't say Peavey, Trace or Laney on the cab then it's going to cost a fortune.

    Have you considered buying used?

    Also have you considered buying the raw drivers from Eminence and building a cabinet yourself. That's essentially what Avatar does. TBer's can help you design it.
