Ok i know some of you own them! I have an older Hartke HS410MX cab that i picked up on the cheap, however after playing through it for a few weeks the original Hartke drivers started going out and farting on me, so i replaced them with Eminence DeltaLite 2510's (as i got them on the cheap 1 from a TB'er and three from a dealer that was closing them out...less than $200.00 for all 4)) I really like the sound of this cab now. I want to add another cab namely the Avatar B 212 as they seem like a really great price at $340.00 new and powered by Eminence Deltalite 12's not to mention the dimesions of the cab almost match the Hartke cab perfectly (just a few inches taller and about 1/2 wider) I think i'm pretty much sold, just looking for a few comments and experiences with Avatar cabs...From Avatar users/owners I noticed they ship by DHL and i have never had a good experience with DHL, how is the Avatar customer service and how are they packed?
I have a 212 Avatar and when I need another cab I'm going for an Avatar. I don't have much experience with any other cabs, but IMO I don't need to try anything else. Shipping DHL kinda seemed stupid to me, I live in a rural area and it took a full 5 extra days than it would've shipped Fed-X or UPS. It did come packed and delivered in excellent shape, pretty much 100% satisfied overall, other than the shipping time.
I've had nothing but good experiences with my 4ohm B410 Neo. I'll be using it again in NYC next weekend. Obviously the weight is a major plus after 2 car accidents. I'm a fan of the sound, and I like the adjustable crossover on the tweeter - and I guess if you don't need/like this feature you just roll it off. When I first switched to lighter cabs I used a Hartke 410 TP. I bought it before I'd ever heard of Avatar, and I'm sorry I did because the Avatar cost me about $100.00 more and the difference in tone is ridiculous. I'm a fan of a full-range sound (which my guitar players hate, but too bad for them), and this one does that job very well. I've heard criticisms about lack of mids....but even though I use a health amount of OD that hasn't affected my sound. I haven't noticed that problem yet. I'm not a fan of DHL, and when my cab was delivered it was literally dropped on my porch. That said, it was extremely well-packed, and there were no problems resulting from delivery. I would love to get my grubby hands on a 2x12 and another 4x10 (both 8ohm) to run for very large stages, or in situations where there's no PA support for bass. The only other option I would take over Avatar at this point would be DR Bass, because I've heard nothing but good things about them, and they offer a similar kind of deal, although with more options (like 15's).
Big fan of Avatars. I'm now using two 4 ohm b210's stacked vertically running at 2ohm. Prior to that I'd been using a b212 and was very happy with it. (I still have it), but prefer punchy mids with lows over meaty lows and mids. Alot of this is due to smaller venue's I'm playing in that would really allow me to work the b212 as hard as it likes to be worked. Once I find a local Nashville area buyer I'll sell or trade my b212, but not because I did not like it, just don't need it now for my current performance needs. And Dave at Avatar has fantastic customer service. DHL can be DHL unfortunately, but of the 3 Avatars I've purchase I've never had anything arrive damaged or with any problem. Dave's packing is very sturdy and protects the cabs well.
I have the Avatar 410 and 212,and both are great cabs.i prefer the 410 as a stand alone, but the 212 does nicely also.Avatar customer service is top notch, and never had a problem with shipping.Go for it.
Yup! I've owned everyone Avatar ever made. Wish I'd have kept all of them. Great cabs. Espscially, the 410 NEO cab. Really sweet. Those and the single 12's are my favorites.
I recently got my B212. Prior to receiving this cab my setup was a Kustom head with a Behringer 410 (the aluminum BA410, not the much preferred paper BB410). I wasn't very impressed with the Behringer at all. I added my Avatar to the stack and it made all the difference. I absolutely love my rig; and it is a budget rig. It is as though the B212 canceled out some of the Behringer's less desirable sounds. I love how light it is. I went to pick it up and was expecting something heavier. The BA410 is a behemoth (101lbs, or something), so I was expecting that. Thank goodness it's lighter. I wanted to make my stack with the 212 on the bottom and 410 on the top. I couldn't do that because the 410 is a bit larger. It felt secure - not like it was going to tip over - but the room I was setup in was pretty messy and confined. I decided on putting the 212 on top, hopefully only for the time being. Unless it isn't going to sound much better. Who knows, a Behringer may not be what I want right on ear level. At any rate, the Avatar cabs are a great buy. I was hesitant to order mine because it felt weird emailing an order in with a credit card number. Dave was extremely friendly, helpful, and got everything taken care of quickly. My cab shipped the same day that I ordered it. I asked for my DHL tracking number the next day, got it, and saw an estimated delivery of July 2nd (about a week after shipping). It ended up getting to me two days early; a very pleasant surprise. My experiences with Dave and DHL were very enjoyable. I'm starting to get anxious about getting another cab. I need something at 8 ohms and that 210 is screaming at me.
Avatar stuff is great! I have a 212 and a 410 and both are fantastic. I owned Eden cabs before that but I needed some cash and readily let the Eden cabs (210 and 212) go and I do not miss them, though they were great as well. I do not feel the need to be bound to an image or brand and if you can let that go, Avatar is the stuff for you - and it sounds GREAT for the price! Sure, there is other stuff that I bet would sound better, but dang, the price makes that a hard leap for me. Also, it was mentioned above that you can roll the tweeter completely off. That, according to several older threads on TB about the "magic smoke" escaping from Avatar cabs, is not the case. I leave my tweets at about 9:00 , but when you roll it off completely it fries the circuit. There are far more technical explanations, but this is the nutshell of the issue. Good luck!
I've got a B212 atop a single 15. Great sound for my style. I would not hesitate to order another. Made it to my door in 4 days if memory is correct (Idaho to Rio Grande Valley,TX.). Avatar had STUFFED the outer box full of corrugated, impressive, almost went into the recycling business. Keep it up, Dave!!
I have the 2x10 neo + a 1x12 neo nice cabs big bang for little money the only con I don't care for the tweeter but not a biggie, in fact I will be adding a 2x12 soon in place of the1x12 to go under the 2x10 and use the 1x12 solo with another head for a mini set up
If the thread wasn't worth reading you just should have passed by. However, you read the thread... did you come into it just to complain? Apparently.
Applogize for not searching, but - couldn't find anything (hey, I'm on a gov't network and it takes years to process searches thru the network) AND Avatar's using new speakers.
I did do a search and unless i wanted to spend a few hours digging through responses i couldn't find anything 100% avatar specific at least for the first few pages. Thanks for the responses fellas!
I did a search but was unable to find any threads concerning this. I can't imagine any cabinet maker putting out a product that has a knob that, when used to its extreme, would break the cabinet. Does this seem unplausible to anyone else?
It's not implausible. For the simple circuit Avatar and others use, it's common. Many other brand name cabinets work the same. Avatar does warn you about that.
Ha-It's you. I've been watching yoru ad on the CL, but I can't jump in right now. Mucho financial troubles-not the least of which is my trunk latch which disentegrated on my way to work, popping my trunk open on James Robertson Pkwy.
