http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP7STLuJxRI It gets real good when the drums kick in at 2:34. What a solo!
Rob Trujillo is most definitely one of the best bassists going today. May not have cared for that sound, but he was doing a tribute to Cliff Burton using the Morley Fuzz Wah. But make no mistake, Rob Trujillo will smoke most bass players. If you ever saw that vid of Metallica auditioning bass players, you understand why they picked Rob.
I finally got to listen with speakers. God that was horrible. It was completely devoid of the energy that Cliff put into it, and it wasn't even a good cover. The best part though was when Lars screwed up and thought he was supposed to come in.
Not a great example, but Rob Trujillo is quite possibly the finest living bass player. He's an absolute monster (and not just on bass)! A couple of better examples: http://youtu.be/ztk1V4utYdA http://youtu.be/U0n5deCbC-o
ahhh, this must be the other part of TB that I'm told about. Cliff's solo was one of the coolest bass pieces in heavy music. Trujillo is NOT Cliff, but he still gave it a shot, which is pretty effing ballzy. Now go lay in a ditch.
RT is an amazing bass player. This thread is one of the reason why I will never post a clip of my playing on talkbass!!
come on, guys!!!!! yes,... RT IS an amazing musician! that CB solo was NOT amazing, IMHO. it's okay if you love it or leave it.
