I bought this bass at Thomann 6 years and 9 months ago for what equals about 240$ (musical instruments are generally slightly more expensive in Europe).

Thing is I kind of think it has turned out for the worse.

    Should I consider returning it?

  2. Sweetwater just agreed for a replacement of a bass that got delivered two months ago, but I think this case is pushing the limit a little, LOL!

Personally I think it looks a lot better now than when you got it.
In fairness, I'm on my third double whiskey...

Well, I tend to agree with you actually.

Just regret the big blemish I caused to it by trying to drill an extra far neck pickup cavity and failing, so I had to fill the unfinished and rather badly shaped hole up with filler mass and paint and varnish it over.

But other than that I actually quite like what I done with it.

Gives it personality in my opinion, and makes it feel more like my personal bass, instead of just some random mass produced object.

Actually, I have more in store for it for a future visual update.

A green self cut pickguard made from plexi glass, filling out the cut in star shape and painting it over, and all controls swapped out with switches wearing red rubber coat on the tips (The controls are only there for the looks as it is now, since both pickups are hooked up directly to the output jack plug).

I picture and hope that update will make it look somewhat like this:

I think people are too worried about looks - either it has to be reliced to splinters, or each little scratch /imperfection is the end of humanity. It's a tool - it's not art.

Actually split skin banging a pipe into my forehead (please, don't ask)... went to the ER for around 7 stitches (a little over 1/2"), as I wasn't able to stop the bleeding by myself.

When the doctor finished, he asked if I wanted a plastic surgeon...... and I returned with, 'For what? THIS face?'.

He did such a great job, I have to look hard to even find it...

... plastic surgeon... pfft... just a flesh wound...

... @NoiseNinja, did you want me to put you in touch with the plastic surgeon?

! Who cares how it looks? How does it sound and play, after the mod?
