<B>Neck slapping</b>

    I've been listening to some of the live old school Jamiroquai stuff from their gigs.

    on some tracks it sounds like Stuart Zender (Bassman) is slapping on the neck of the bass (that is to say, further up than you would normally slap (about3/4 inches onto the neck)

    Does anyone else do this or is it just me and stu?

    Lots of people do it...Marcus Miller for example.

    I do. Always. Not sure why, it just is that way. Guess the slap sound gets a bit "woodier" with it.
    That doesn't make me a Zender or Miller, though - I'm still pretty lame at slapping. :(
