Is the preamp sections of both of these units basically the same? I would like to get a tone similar to the B5R but with a different power section, is it possible to do this using the SVTBSP?

They are very similar. The clean channel is almost identical. The bsp has a tube in this channel. The bsp's distorted channel is much better. The same type of sound but a fully functioning eq plus noise gate instead of just the gain and tone selector on the b5r. If you like the B5R, then you'll like the BSP more. I have one on the way myself. It will be the 3rd one that I've had. Never get rid of good gear. Some pieces just work together and some don't.

Thanx, like I said, I really like the pre-amp sections of the B5R, but don't like the power section. The SVT5 seemed to come close but doesn't have the same tone. Hopefully the SVTBSP does it for me...
