Hi! Have any of you installed a Babicz bridge on a newer 2010+ Fender am deluxe bass? Ive noticed its not a direct fit and lots of filling and re drilling is required to make it work. I have no problem doing that, what bothers me is the different spacing on the Babicz to the high mass vintage Fender bridge. (Babicz is slightly wider) For starters I would loose the string through body feature but Babicz assures the FCH will transfer more to the body. What other problems may I encounter doing this modification? Pickups seem the same size. Im worried I could loose alignment of the strings with the pole pieces and ruin the sound and playability. I want a bridge with no height screws all because of palm muting picking, I use my action set up low and the exposed screws really mess up my hand. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Do not install it. The spacing is too great on the babicz. Strings will not cantact with the finge board till the 13th fret. If the bass is post 2008, stick with that bridge. Its a solid bridge and doesn't really need upgrading.

  3. I'm a fan of the Babicz bridge. Its a nice, solid piece of hardware. Having said that, I would stick with your original bridge. All of my Babicz bridges were replaced with bent plate/threaded saddle units.

The Babicz bridge is an awesome piece of hardware, but I wouldn't install it on anything that wouldn't be a direct replacement.
