i've just bought a pre-fender take over baby redhead combo and was wondering if it had a valve in it or not?

    thanks

Hmmmm ... Baby Redhead ... Baby Redhead ... I've never heard of this rig. I've heard of a Baby Blue, a Super Redhead, and the earlier Redhead. So what's a Baby Redhead look like?

    can you elaborate a little

how likely is it/how often will i have to replace it. how easy/hard is it?where would i get these valves from? how easily do they break?

    thanks

Possibly never. Easy. Anywhere. Not at all.

And the SWR preamps respond well to changing the tube to tweak their sound. Replacing the Ruby 12AX7 in my SWR GP with a NOS '60s triple-mica 5751 has reduced the harshness and added fatness, clarity and tightness. It's a subtle change but a nice (and cheap) one.

its a good rule of thumb to have a spare tube handy, but i hear that getting into the Super Redhead is time consuming. i have one and have never had to open it up. mine has been slammed, dropped from a few inches and played almost at full volume at an out door concert in 95 degree weather. i have not a single problem with it.

Generally, the preamp tube will last for years.

great, thanks, just cos i do a lot of gigging around the UK so its pretty guaranteed to get dropped, bashed, turned up loud, have beer spilt on it in v sweaty clubs etc.

Anyne know a website i could buy a valve or two from to have as spares.

    cheers

I haven't owned a Super Redhead, but my 8-year-old Eden WT-300 still has the original 7075 (12AX7) in it.

I once took out every screw on the oustide of my old Super Red and still couldn't get the head out. It didn't even move.
