Anyone got a good link for a fairly standard edition of the first cello suite? or all of them? haha
imslp.org has them.
I like to use the unedited version without any slurring, bowings or fingerings so I can come up with my own to suit me.
I was given a Barenreiter edition, full of penciled cello fingerings that I'm erasing. I open up my low C and play them as written. I love how the floor shakes...
I saw an edition where the suites are transposed (usually a fourth up) in order to better fit the 4 strings DB and of course played as written. I see the benefit but I am not very fan of it...
that sounds like the Sterling...that's what I used to use.
I found this article from a cello publication...I think I'll go with the Vandersall.
