Hello, Bassers, I just returned to the bass recently after 20 plus years of guitar. I have always thought of myself as bassist, ever since I learned Elvis' Kentucky Rain when I was 12. I learned playing a beat up P copy with tapewounds, listening to real vinyl. Then heavy metal and guitar ruined me for many years. Occasionally I would play bass in other bands and enjoyed it so much, but my neoclassical speed shredding was in demand. Now after so many years, I am back to the instrument that made me LOVE music in the first place. I sold my Strats, Amps, and Pedals; and got a beautiful Natural finish jazz bass with block inlays and Chromes, through a very old Earth Super Bass amp and cab. Going back to bassics, relearning how to groove and walk. So glad to be back.
Welcome back. www.studybass.com and anything written by Ed Friedland will help with the rust. http://www.amazon.com/Ed-Friedland/e/B001JS9DZA/ref=sr_tc_2_0?qid=1420039098&sr=1-2-ent Good luck
Yep, my wonderful wife got me Ed's Building Walking Baselines for Christmas. Its a great book/lesson for me so far, especially getting back to reading bass clef. She has always preferred me playing the bass, grooving along to whole songs and tunes, instead of wailing away in harmonic minor scales and power chords!!!!!
