    I want to say that i know nothing about electronics.

    Now i got a Fender Jazz bass that has active electronics and i don't really like active basses so i want to change it back to passive, but do I have to change everything out? and what do i replace with the active pre amp?

    man, i have no idea what i am doing or saying.

    Assuming that it's a Jazz with standard two-wire pickups, all you'd have to do is lose the preamp and battery and rewire with passive pots and the apporpiate cap. Wiring schematics are on the stickies at the top of this forum.

    If you have no experience with soldering I suggest you hire the work out to someone who knows what he (or she) is doing.

    Amen. That passive tone is where it's at. I don't know how to make the conversion, but good luck.

    Active has it's place for more modern tones (IMO), but I can't give up the passive vibe.
