Back-Up amp

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Minimalist, Oct 4, 2004.

  1. I’m looking for a back-up amp (new or used) somewhere in the $300-$500 price range. Here are some guidelines what I’m looking for:

Min. 300 Watts at 4 Ohm
    Preferrable min. Ohm 2
    NO graphic EQ
    Equalizer freq.:
    Bass at 50 Hz
    Semi parametric mids
Treble at 7 kHz or higher (boost would be OK)
    D.I. (w/ ground lift) out
    Optional compressor
    Optional tuner out
    Reliable

    Amps I play(ed) and I like(d):
Ampeg SVT III (the old one, NOT the pro)
    Fender Bassman 400h
    Warwick pro fet III

Amps I used to play and didn’t like:
    GK (several, didn’t like any)
    Ampeg SVT III pro
    Peavey Mark III (I believe).

What amps should I look into?

swr bass 350s and eden 300s/400s go for reasonable amounts
the swr will power a 2 ohm load, the edens will not

  3. Thanks. I was looking into the SWR but have no experience with the Eden.

    Anybody else any suggestions? :help:
